Arkansas coach Ryan Silverfield talks season, QB battle at SEC Media Days

Arkansas Razorbacks head coach Ryan Silverfield addressed reporters at the 2026 SEC Media Days, noting the recent passing of Jim Lindsey and expressing gratitude to his family. He highlighted the program’s overhaul with nearly 80 new players and a largely new coaching staff, and mentioned three recruits—Quincy Rhodes Jr., Caden Kitler and Sutton Smith—who have committed to stay with the team.

Silverfield also discussed the ongoing quarterback competition between redshirt sophomore KJ Jackson and transfer AJ Hill. He praised Jackson’s intelligence, work ethic and leadership, calling him “tremendous,” and pointed to his strong performance last season, including over 200 passing yards, a touchdown, a 61.1% completion rate and zero interceptions. Silverfield said the final starter decision will hinge on who can best protect the ball and lead the offense effectively.
