Arkansas football gains defensive depth and academic focus

The Arkansas football program is entering the 2026 season under new head coach Ryan Silverfield with a boost to its defensive depth. Following a recent court ruling in Colorado, defensive back Caleb Wooden has been cleared for a fifth year of eligibility. Wooden, who recorded 59 tackles and three tackles for loss during the 2025 campaign, is expected to play a significant role in the Razorbacks' secondary.

In addition to roster developments, Silverfield has emphasized academic accountability. On the first day of fall classes, the head coach was observed personally visiting classrooms to ensure student-athletes were attending sessions and sitting in the front rows. Silverfield stated that he performs these checks himself to establish a standard for the program, rather than delegating the task to academic support staff.
