Arkansas football uses strategic scrimmages to prepare for upcoming season

Arkansas head coach Ryan Silverfield is utilizing strategic scrimmage times to prepare the Razorbacks for specific game conditions. A preseason scrimmage scheduled for Saturday at 9:15 p.m. is designed to simulate the late-night kickoff the team will face against Utah on September 12 in Salt Lake City. This follows a previous scrimmage held at 11 a.m. to prepare for a home game against Georgia on September 19.

Silverfield has emphasized the importance of “controlling the controllables,” such as effort, preparation, and mental toughness, particularly when facing extreme weather conditions.

As training camp progresses, several newcomers are emerging as potential contributors for the season opener against North Alabama on September 5. Freshman defensive back Brandon Ford has received praise from the coaching staff for his ability to force turnovers, while tight end Ty Lockwood has emerged as a notable figure within the position group.
