Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders appoints Gary Stark to Education Board
Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders appointed longtime educator Dr. Gary Stark to the Arkansas State Board of Education, filling the seat vacated by Adrienne Woods. Stark will serve a term that expires on June 30, 2033.
Stark brings more than 35 years of experience in education, having worked as a classroom teacher, school principal, nonprofit executive and education policy adviser. He most recently served as senior adviser for K‑12 education with the Walton Personal Philanthropy Group, supporting initiatives across Arkansas, Missouri and Oklahoma. Stark also holds leadership roles with the National Institute for Excellence in Teaching and Goodwill Industries of Arkansas, is a U.S. Department of Education veteran, and earned a doctorate in educational leadership from the University of Arkansas.
