Arkansas launches universal college application portal

The Arkansas Department of Education has launched the Arkansas ACCESS Portal, a universal college application system designed to streamline the admissions process for students. Following the passage of the Arkansas ACCESS Act in 2025, the portal allows high school seniors to apply to up to five participating institutions using a single form and login at no cost.

The system is currently available to public and charter school students applying for the 2027-2028 academic year. Private school students can access the portal for the 2028-2029 year, followed by home-schooled students and GED recipients. The portal features automatic transcript population and provides students with provisional admission decisions and financial aid information.

Currently, the portal includes all 34 public four-year and two-year colleges in the state, along with eight private institutions. The initiative aims to reduce the repetitive nature of multiple applications and align higher education with state economic and workforce needs through new funding metrics.
