Arkansas Razorbacks look to improve pass rush and early execution
The Arkansas Razorbacks enter their Week 6 matchup against No. 15 Tennessee with a 2-3 overall record and a 0-2 standing in the SEC. Following a 34-7 loss to Texas A&M, team leadership has identified critical areas for improvement to avoid another deficit.
Defensive coordinator Ron Roberts emphasized the need for a more effective pass rush, noting that the unit has recorded only eight sacks so far this season, the third-lowest in the conference. Roberts stated, “We’ve got to be more effective on the pass rush. We’ve got to be more effective on the first-and-second-down transition pass rush.”
Offensively, the Razorbacks have struggled with slow starts, trailing by an average of 20.3 points at halftime in recent losses against Power Four competition. Offensive coordinator Tim Cramsey stressed the importance of staying competitive early, noting that failing to execute basic plays has forced the team into unfavorable situations. The offense has also faced challenges establishing a consistent running game, which has led to a more one-dimensional passing attack.
