Arkansas Senate race polls show conflicting results for Cotton and Shoffner

Recent polling for the Arkansas Senate race between Republican incumbent Tom Cotton and Democratic challenger Hallie Shoffner has revealed significant discrepancies. A survey conducted by Talk Business & Politics-Hendrix College between August 11-12 found Shoffner leading with 47.4% support to Cotton's 44%. However, this 3.4-point lead falls within the poll's 4.7% margin of error.

In contrast, a separate survey by J. L. Partners conducted from August 14-18 showed Cotton holding a 16-point advantage, with 51% support compared to 35% for Shoffner. Libertarian candidate Jeff Wadlin received 4% in the J. L. Partners poll and approximately 2.95% in the Hendrix College poll.

These conflicting results follow a pattern of varying estimates throughout the year. Previous surveys have ranged from a 22-point lead for Cotton in February to a much narrower margin in July. Analysts note that differences in polling results can stem from various factors, including respondent selection and demographic identification.
