Arkansas State Trooper investigated after violent arrest caught on camera
Authorities in Blytheville, Arkansas, are investigating the arrest of 24-year-old Tedrick Washington following a high-speed police chase on August 19. Dashcam footage released by the Arkansas State Police shows Trooper Theodore Henderson breaking a rear window of an SUV and pulling Washington from the vehicle by his dreadlocks. The video also captures Henderson punching Washington in the face during the encounter.
The pursuit began when an SUV, driven by 25-year-old Adonerus Johnson, allegedly reached speeds of up to 130 mph after police attempted a traffic stop. After the vehicle was stopped using spike strips and a tactical intervention, Washington, who was a passenger, was taken into custody. Washington was charged with obstruction of governmental operations and resisting arrest, while Johnson faced charges including felony fleeing and DWI.
Washington, a former basketball player, has since been released on bond and stated on social media that he intends to seek justice. Investigations into the trooper's use of force are ongoing.
