Arkia Airlines flight diverts to Gander due to medical emergency
An Arkia Israeli Airlines flight traveling from New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport to Tel Aviv diverted to Gander International Airport in Newfoundland, Canada, on Monday evening.
Flight IZ034, an Airbus A330-300, declared an in-flight emergency approximately three hours into its trans-Atlantic crossing after a medical situation arose on board. Following the emergency declaration, air traffic controllers vectored the aircraft toward Gander, where medical personnel were on standby.
After a brief stop to address the medical emergency, the aircraft resumed its journey to Ben Gurion Airport. The flight was expected to arrive in Tel Aviv approximately eight hours after departing Gander.
