Arkia suspends ticket sales to Marrakech due to security concerns
Israeli airline Arkia has announced the suspension of ticket sales for flights to Marrakech, Morocco, until further notice. The decision follows a request from Israeli security authorities, though the specific nature of the security concerns has not been disclosed.
The airline is currently in discussions with relevant security agencies to determine the possibility of continuing the route and to assess the impact on passengers who have already purchased tickets. Arkia is also exploring alternatives to maintain the service, such as operating flights through partner airlines, should Israeli authorities prohibit direct flights by Israeli carriers.
This suspension follows a similar move by Israir on October 13. The decision comes shortly after Arkia had resumed direct flights to Marrakech in August 2026, following a three-year hiatus. The disruption affects planned expansions of air connectivity between Israel and Morocco, which were established after diplomatic relations were restored in December 2020.
