Bervenica holds runoff elections for new mayor
The municipality of Bervenica is conducting a second round of extraordinary local elections to select a new mayor following the death of Jovica Ilievski in June. The runoff features two main candidates: Stojanko Radichevski of VMRO-DPMNE and Arkin Jahiji of DUI.
According to the State Election Commission (DIK), voter turnout showed an increase compared to the first round held on October 18. By 11:00 AM, turnout reached 13.82 percent, with 2,245 citizens having cast their votes out of 16,256 registered voters. DIK President Bojan Marichki noted that the voting process has proceeded peacefully and without major issues.
The election process involves 24 polling stations across ten settlements. Authorities have provided specialized telephone lines to assist citizens with information regarding their voting rights, including video calls in sign language for hearing-impaired voters.
