Arkipelag film makes Swedish theatrical debut after international awards

The Swedish film ‘Arkipelag’, written and directed by Alex Schulman, is making its domestic theatrical debut across more than 300 cinemas. Selected as Sweden’s official entry for the Best International Feature Film at the Oscars, the film has already garnered international attention.

Following its premiere at Fantastic Fest in Austin, Texas, where it won the Best Film award in the New Wave competition, the film has screened at festivals in Reykjavík, Zürich, and Calgary. Actor Fares Fares received the first Outstanding Nordic Actor award at the Freyas Awards for his performance. The film, which stars Gustaf Skarsgård and Linus Wahlgren alongside Fares, follows three fathers on a school trip to an island in the Stockholm archipelago where they confront personal traumas.

Producer Christina Legkova noted the strong international audience response and confirmed that the film has been sold to several European countries, with discussions ongoing with North American distributors.
