Arkösund island fire extinguished by rescue services

On Saturday, September 19, 2026, a fire was reported on an island near Arkösund. Members of the public discovered the blaze shortly after 14:00 and began attempting to extinguish it themselves.

The Swedish Sea Rescue Society responded by deploying the vessels Rescue Ingrid af Slättö and Rescue Ingegerd Ramstedt. The Coast Guard also arrived on the scene, providing a high-capacity water pump that was connected to the main hose from Slättö to assist in firefighting efforts.

The fire was considered extinguished by approximately 17:00. Emergency responders credited the significant efforts of both the civilians on site and the participating rescue units.
