Brazil expands AI initiatives in government, judiciary and election oversight

The Paraná state government showcased its AI program at the 1st State Symposium on Artificial Intelligence and Quality of Life in Curitiba, highlighting projects such as Transforma IA, the Carreta da Inovação, CEP Rural and the Paraná Anjo Inovador grant scheme. A key demonstration was the Capricórnio tool for personalized cancer‑treatment recommendations, now operating in two hospitals.

In the São Paulo region, the Lide Grande ABC business forum held a seminar on the impact of artificial intelligence on upcoming elections. Speakers discussed how AI‑generated content can spread misinformation, the requirement for clear labeling of AI‑produced media, and recent TSE rules that mandate removal of AI‑generated material 72 hours before voting.

The Mato Grosso State Court launched OMNIA, an AI‑driven management platform for judicial units. Using natural‑language queries, judges and staff can retrieve performance indicators, track CNJ targets and generate reports without navigating multiple systems. The tool will be rolled out nationally through the CNJ’s Conecta program.

Together, these events illustrate Brazil’s multifaceted push to embed artificial intelligence across public administration, judicial operations and electoral processes, while also grappling with regulatory, ethical and operational challenges.
