Arlington science teacher named Albert Einstein Distinguished Educator Fellow
Daniel Bernhardt, a science teacher at Swanson Middle School, has been selected as an Albert Einstein Distinguished Educator Fellow. He will serve as a teacher in residence at the Library of Congress for the 2026-27 school year.
Administered by the U.S. Department of Energy, the fellowship recognizes exceptional educators and provides opportunities to support science education through federal agencies and institutions. Superintendent Francisco Durán noted that Bernhardt has been leading a nationally recognized program at Swanson. Bernhardt attributed the recognition to the district’s investment in science education, noting that his students have frequently advanced to regional, state, national, and international competitions.
