Armada Rijeka protests match scheduling on All Saints Day
The Armada supporters group of HNK Rijeka staged a protest during the match against Varaždin at Rujevica Stadium, held on All Saints Day. While the group did not attend the match in an organized capacity, they displayed a large banner expressing dissatisfaction with the Croatian Football Federation (HNS) regarding match scheduling.
The banner highlighted a sequence of recent kickoff times, including several weekday matches, before questioning the decision to schedule a match at 15:00 on a major religious holiday. The supporters stated that All Saints Day is a time for family, prayer, and visiting cemeteries, and they argued that scheduling matches during this period shows a lack of respect for Croatian and Christian traditions.
The match between Rijeka and Varaždin ended in a 1:1 draw. In a separate incident in the Zadar County First League, the club NK Bibinje also refused to play its scheduled match against NK Debeljak on the same day, citing the same respect for the holiday and its cultural significance.
