Armand Duplantis to skip 2027 indoor athletics season

World and Olympic pole vault champion Armand Duplantis has announced he will skip the 2027 indoor athletics season. This decision includes his absence from the 2027 European Championships in Valencia, scheduled for March 4–7.

Duplantis stated the move is intended to provide his body with the necessary recovery and preparation for the outdoor season. He cited an overly demanding competition schedule during the previous summer as a primary reason for the decision, noting he lacked sufficient time to prepare for the intense workload.

As a result of his absence, his signature indoor event, Mondo Classics, will not be held in 2027. Duplantis plans to focus his training on the 2027 outdoor season, which begins in May and concludes with the World Championships in mid-September.
