Armand Foëx and Clément Devilliers release debut film ‘Un grand raccourci’

Armand Foëx and Clément Devilliers, two 22-year-old filmmakers from Nantes, have released their debut feature film, ‘Un grand raccourci’. The project represents a transition from their roots in YouTube short films to professional cinema.

Produced with a budget of 260,000 euros and distributed by UFO, the film follows two cousins in rural Brittany struggling to find their way after the death of their grandmother. The narrative explores their attempts to build a life, including unconventional paths such as working as exterminators.

The directors noted that their filmmaking process is heavily influenced by practical constraints. To manage costs, they write scenes based on accessible locations, such as local restaurants, gyms, and landscapes identified via Google Maps. They emphasized that their approach relies on utilizing available resources and local community cooperation rather than traditional, lengthy financing cycles.
