Armando Armas returns to Venezuela after six years in exile

Opposition leader and former National Assembly deputy Armando Armas has returned to Venezuela after more than six years in exile. Armas, a member of Voluntad Popular, was seen on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, attending a mass for the Virgin of the Valley in the state of Anzoátegui.

Armas stated that his return to the region was motivated by a personal promise and a desire to reunite with his 102-year-old grandmother. While his immediate priority is spending time with family and friends, he indicated that he will issue political statements in the coming days.
