Armando González assigned number 34 at Olympiacos

Mexican forward Armando ‘La Hormiga’ González has been assigned the number 34 jersey for his debut in European football with Olympiacos. The 23-year-old chose the number due to its personal significance during his early years with Chivas del Guadalajara. The number has not been used by Olympiacos since the 2021-22 season.

González is awaiting authorization from the Greek Super League to use his nickname on his jersey; if denied, he will appear as A. González. His arrival follows a successful period with Chivas, where he scored 24 goals across the Apertura 2025 and Clausura 2026 seasons.

González becomes the third Mexican player to wear the Olympiacos kit and the twelfth to play in the Greek First Division. He joins a lineage of Mexican players in Greece, including Nery Castillo, who enjoyed a highly successful seven-season tenure with Olympiacos, and Orbelín Pineda, who played four seasons for AEK Athens.
