Armando González scores in Europa League debut for Olympiacos
Mexican forward Armando ‘La Hormiga’ González scored in his UEFA Europa League debut as Olympiacos secured a 2-1 comeback victory against Jagiellonia Białystok at the Georgios Karaiskakis Stadium.
After falling behind in the 20th minute to a goal by Kajetan Szmyt, González leveled the score in the 43rd minute by capitalizing on a rebound in the area. This marked his fourth goal for the Greek club. Olympiacos eventually secured the win in the second half through a header by Ukrainian player Roman Yaremchuk, who replaced González in the 62nd minute.
González, who joined Olympiacos from Chivas during the summer 2026 transfer window, dedicated his goal to his mother on her birthday and noted the significance of scoring on Mexican Independence Day. The victory marks a successful start to the 2026-2027 Europa League campaign for the team under coach Imanol Alguacil.
