Olympiacos signs Mexican striker Armando González from Chivas

Olympiacos FC has officially signed Mexican striker Armando ‘Hormiga’ González from Chivas Guadalajara. The 23-year-old forward, who recently participated in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, has signed a five-year contract with the Greek club.

The transfer is valued at approximately $10 million to $12 million for 80 percent of the player's economic rights, with an additional $2 million available in bonuses. Chivas will retain a 20 percent sell-on clause. This move marks a significant step for González, who was the top scorer in the Apertura 2025 tournament.

González arrived in Greece to complete medical examinations and has already expressed his excitement, stating, “This dream was born in Mexico and is now taking me further than I imagined. My destiny is Olympiacos.” He joins a squad looking to compete in the Europa League and will compete for attacking positions alongside players like Ayoub El Kaabi.
