Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina begin NATO assessment exercise

The Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina (OS BiH) have commenced ‘Trenutni odgovor 26’, the largest and most complex military exercise conducted by the organization in 2026. The exercise is taking place at the Manjača training ground.

The primary objective is to undergo a NATO re-assessment (re-NEL 2) of specific units, including a light infantry battalion group, a military police platoon, and an unexploded ordnance (EOD) removal platoon. This assessment follows the concept of operational capability, evaluation, and feedback (OCC E&F).

Approximately 1,200 personnel are participating in the exercise. They are being evaluated by NATO Allied Joint Force Command Naples teams, led by NATO chief monitoring officer Colonel Robert Marcijan. Brigadier General Jasmin Čajić, the director of the exercise, stated that the units are prepared to meet strict international criteria and NATO standards.
