Armed gang holds family hostage during Morumbi mansion robbery

An armed gang of approximately ten criminals held a family hostage for about an hour during a robbery at a mansion in the Morumbi district of São Paulo early Sunday morning. The victims, a couple aged 69 and 71 and their 13-year-old grandson, were surprised while sleeping around 1:00 AM.

Four assailants entered the home armed with pistols and revolvers, while six others remained outside. The 71-year-old man was held at gunpoint before the family was moved to the living room. The thieves stole a Mercedes-Benz valued at approximately R$ 90,000, a PlayStation 5, luxury watches, and other valuables, totaling an estimated loss of R$ 150,000.

Following the robbery, the criminals accessed the 69-year-old woman’s bank accounts via her mobile phone to make unauthorized transfers and purchases. The family also reported receiving threatening messages after the incident. The case is being investigated by the Civil Police at the 89th Police District, and authorities are searching for the suspects, including individuals who appeared to be minors and one who spoke with a Spanish accent.
