Armed robberies target money transfer points in Guinea and Senegal

Two separate armed robberies targeting money transfer services occurred in West Africa.

In Bouré Boukaria, Kintinian (Guinea), an attempted robbery of an Orange Money shop on August 30 resulted in violence between the assailants. While no money was stolen, the shop manager was seriously injured by gunfire, losing one or two fingers. One of the attackers was killed by gunfire from his own accomplices and left at the scene. Police recovered a PMK magazine and a mobile phone to assist in the investigation.

In Thiès, Senegal, armed individuals raided a money transfer point in Nguinth on September 1. The assailants used pistols and fired warning shots to intimidate customers and employees. The group fled with an undisclosed amount of cash and valuables in an unidentified vehicle. Local police have secured the area and launched an investigation to identify the perpetrators.
