Armed robbery at Fiapre mobile money stalls kills two in Ghana

Three armed men armed with AK‑47 rifles attacked two female mobile‑money vendors in Fiapre, Sunyani West Municipality, Bono Region, on the evening of August 5, 2026. The robbers stole GH¢40,000 and fired shots that killed a by‑stander, Ibrahim, and wounded the vendors, who were later taken to Sunyani Teaching Hospital for treatment.

A mob overpowered one of the assailants, identified as Fulani, killing him, while the remaining two robbers escaped with the cash. Chief Inspector Thomas Akeelah of the Bono Regional Police confirmed the incident and said investigations were ongoing. Municipal Chief Executive Kwasi Asante Boateng visited the victims' families and urged residents to remain calm as police continue to search for the suspects.
