Armed robbery in Agona Mankron, Ghana leaves mobile‑money vendor critically injured
Six heavily armed men carried out a coordinated robbery at Agona Mankron Junction in the Agona East District of Ghana's Central Region. The gang targeted mobile‑money (MoMo) vendors, shops, drivers and commuters, robbing three MoMo agents and attempting to attack a local filling station before workers fled.
After the initial assault, the robbers set up an illegal roadblock on the Bawjiase–Swedru highway near Kwanyarko, shooting commuters at gunpoint. One MoMo vendor was shot and is now in critical condition at a health facility. Residents described panic as people fled into bushes and a cemetery to escape the gunfire. Community members have appealed to the Ghana Police Service for an immediate manhunt, stronger security patrols and protection of lives and property, while police launch an investigation into the incident.
