Armed store robbery in Sitten, Switzerland prompts massive police hunt
On the night of 3‑4 July, a weapons store in Sitten, Valais was forced open and its merchandise stolen. The suspects escaped in a vehicle registered in France.
The Wallis cantonal police launched an extensive search, coordinating with the Vaud cantonal police, city police of Monthey and Martigny, the regional police (PRVC), the Federal Customs and Border Protection Office, canine units, drones and a Swiss army Super‑Puma helicopter equipped with night‑vision and FLIR thermal imaging. Police have asked residents to remain vigilant, report any information, and avoid confronting the fugitives. The public prosecutor’s office has opened an investigation.
