Armenia: Border security concerns, media sanctions, and Church inquiry debates
In Armenia, several political and institutional developments are unfolding. MP Garnik Danielyan reported following a visit to the village of Shaki, alleging that Azerbaijani forces or groups penetrated approximately 20 kilometers into Armenian territory. Danielyan expressed concern over the security situation and questioned whether law enforcement and border services were negligent in allowing such an incursion.
Separately, the Public Broadcasting Council has imposed disciplinary sanctions on Executive Director Hovhannes Movsisyan and Deputy Director Levon Margaryan. The decision follows the broadcast of a Tata Simonyan concert on September 27, which was deemed inappropriate content according to the Law on Audiovisual Media.
Regarding constitutional matters, Ter Vrtanes has criticized the National Assembly's initiative to conduct a parliamentary inquiry into the internal affairs of the Church. The critique asserts that such an inquiry would exceed the legal jurisdiction of the National Assembly and violate the constitutional separation of state and church.
