Armenia, Colombia Revises Requirements for Large Public Events

Municipal authorities in Armenia, Colombia convened a technical meeting to review and update the rules governing mass‑attendance public events such as concerts, festivals, sporting and commercial activities. Participants included the Secretariat of Government and Convivencia, the Office of Municipal Management for Disaster Risk (Omgerd), the Secretariat of Economic Development, representatives of the entertainment‑industry groups Sayco and Acinpro, and local event producers. The discussion focused on classifying events by their nature, expected attendance and risk level, which determines the permits, documentation and safety measures required. Officials also examined the timelines for filing applications, the procedural steps before authorisation, and the coordination mechanisms with security, mobility, emergency response and public‑space control agencies. The revised guidelines aim to strengthen risk management, protect attendees’ rights, and ensure timely technical evaluation of proposals to improve overall public safety for large gatherings in the city.
