The Armenian government has approved a legislative package to significantly increase the salaries of high-ranking officials, including the Prime Minister, ministers, members of parliament, judges, and law enforcement leaders, effective January 1, 2027. The measure is expected to cost the state budget an additional 25 billion drams annually. Officials justify the increase as a necessary step to make public service competitive and attract qualified specialists.

Separately, new regulations regarding state fees for identity documents will take effect by November 2026. Passports will cost 28,650 drams, while ID cards will cost 5,950 drams. The government may also provide support for certain groups to assist with these payments.

In regional development, 1.1 billion drams have been allocated for subvention programs across 19 communities to fund infrastructure projects such as kindergarten reconstruction and water line repairs.

On the legal front, the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) has ordered Armenia to pay 50,000 euros in non-material damages to the family of soldier Artur Margaryan following an investigation into his 2014 death that the court deemed insufficient.
