Armenia considers restructuring regional governor offices

Armenian authorities are discussing potential reforms to the institution of regional governors and the future operations of regional administrations. While initial discussions considered the complete abolition of regional offices and the redistribution of their functions among various agencies and enlarged communities, a compromise scenario is now being evaluated.

Under this proposed model, the institution of regional governors might not be entirely eliminated, but their powers and influence would be significantly reduced. Many current responsibilities would be transferred to other state bodies, leaving governors with a more limited scope of authority. While discussions are ongoing within government circles, no final decision or official legislative draft has been confirmed.
