Armenia: Political unrest follows General's citizenship renunciation

Political tensions in Armenia have escalated following the decision of Lieutenant General Norat Ter-Grigoryants to renounce his Armenian citizenship. Supporters suggest the move is a calculated political statement intended to spark debate regarding the country’s current leadership and national defense, rather than a rejection of his heritage.

Separately, security expert Tigran Abrahamyan has criticized former Security Council Secretary Armen Grigoryan. Abrahamyan claims that Grigoryan’s recent interview inadvertently revealed strategic plans regarding the 2016 April War. According to Abrahamyan, these plans involved Azerbaijan and external forces attempting to force a capitulation of Artsakh during the administration of Serzh Sargsyan to shift political blame and consolidate power.
