Pezeshkian calls for expanded use of national currencies in BRICS trade

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has called for the expansion of national currency use in trade among BRICS nations. Speaking at the BRICS Business Forum, Pezeshkian emphasized that increasing the use of local currencies is a vital step toward stabilizing the global financial system, which he described as vulnerable due to its concentration around a limited number of currencies.

Pezeshkian stated that BRICS must create a robust toolkit to mitigate risks and establish an environment where no single country can hinder legitimate trade through the scarcity of financial tools or technologies. He noted that BRICS should aim to build sustainable potential for its members and the economies of the Global South.

Furthermore, the Iranian President highlighted Iran's readiness to serve as a key link in the BRICS economic system, leveraging its strategic geographical position and energy resources to foster a more open and stable economy.
