Armenia rejects corruption probe into Minister Torosyan

Armenia’s Corruption Prevention Commission has rejected a request to initiate proceedings against Arsen Torosyan, the Minister of Labour and Social Affairs, regarding potential conflicts of interest. The petition, filed by Seymon Babayan, alleged that Torosyan’s wife, Vardanushev Tevanian, holds a 10 percent stake in the ‘MIBS’ medical center, which received a state contract worth 337 million drams from the Ministry of Health. The commission noted Torosyan’s previous roles in the Ministry of Health and his subsequent political career when reviewing the matter.

Separately, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade Ararat Mirzoyan addressed the state of Armenia-Russia relations. He stated that while Russia remains more than a strategic partner due to existing bilateral treaties and economic integration within the EAEU, the relationship requires renewal based on mutual respect and shared interests. Mirzoyan acknowledged recent tensions arising from political statements and trade restrictions on Armenian exports, emphasizing Yerevan’s desire to resolve issues constructively without further escalation.
