Armenia seeks regional connectivity and biodiversity balance
Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan addressed the COP17 Business and Biodiversity Forum, emphasizing the need to reconcile economic development with ecosystem protection. He noted that while biodiversity loss continues, business must play an integral role in achieving the objectives of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework.
Mirzoyan also discussed the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP), a project designed to connect Armenia with third countries using Azerbaijan’s territory and infrastructure. He stated that the project could be launched even before a formal peace treaty is signed, as peace has effectively been established between the two nations.
The TRIPP initiative aims to transform Armenia into an East-West transport hub through the development of railways, highways, power transmission lines, fiber-optic cables, and potentially oil and gas pipelines. Mirzoyan stressed that such infrastructure must operate based on principles of sovereignty, territorial integrity, and jurisdiction.
