Armenia to initiate public discussions on TRIPP infrastructure project

Armenia is preparing to present preliminary designs for the ‘Trump Route’ (TRIPP) project for public discussion. The initiative involves the development of road, railway, and electricity line infrastructure. Mher Grigoryan, Deputy Prime Minister of Armenia, announced that government officials recently inspected potential sites for these facilities in the Meghri region.

While the railway route is largely established, officials noted that tunnels and other structures require reassessment. The road route remains subject to further discussion to ensure it is competitive for transit transport, particularly in areas with difficult access. The project will be managed by an Armenia-US joint company, though planning for the three infrastructure sectors is expected to begin before the company is fully formed.

Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan addressed parliamentary inquiries regarding the project's scope. During discussions in the Foreign Affairs Committee, questions were raised concerning the length of the route within Armenia, specific locations such as Arasdeyan, and the operational regimes for the infrastructure. Mirzoyan clarified that because the project consists of various components—such as gas pipelines and railways following different paths—it is not possible to define a single width for the entire TRIPP corridor.
