Armenian American National Committee outlines US election priorities

The Armenian National Committee of America (ANCA) has released its evaluation of US Congressional members and a list of preferred candidates for the 2026 elections. The organization has launched an electoral platform to inform voters about candidate positions on issues critical to the Armenian-American community.

ANCA evaluated all members of the US Senate and House of Representatives based on over 70 criteria related to protecting the interests of Armenia and Artsakh, ensuring accountability for Azerbaijan, and US foreign policy. The committee is currently supporting 63 candidates across both Democratic and Republican parties, emphasizing that candidate stances on Armenian issues take precedence over party affiliation.

Key political priorities include: • Holding Azerbaijan accountable for the ethnic cleansing of Artsakh and protecting the right of safe return for its inhabitants. • Securing the release of Armenian prisoners and hostages held in Baku. • Protecting Armenia’s sovereignty and security while strengthening Armenian-American partnerships. • Limiting US military aid to Azerbaijan and ensuring full implementation of Section 907 of the Freedom Support Act. • Imposing sanctions on Azerbaijani officials, including through the Global Magnitsky Act. • Promoting recognition of the Armenian Genocide and increasing public awareness.
