Armenia: Social studies, road safety, and cultural updates

Various developments are reported in Armenia across legal, social, and cultural sectors.

In social research, CRRC-Armenia, in collaboration with the Human Rights Defender of Armenia and the Danish Institute for Human Rights, has released the results of a nationwide study on discrimination. The study, which surveyed 2,200 adults, aims to identify the underlying causes of discrimination and inform policy development.

Regarding public safety, the Armenian Police Patrol Service reported a decrease in road traffic fatalities. Officials stated that approximately 100 lives have been saved over the 2024-2026 period due to increased awareness campaigns and stricter enforcement of administrative violations.

In the legal and economic sphere, Samvel Karapetyan, leader of the ‘Strong Armenia’ party, criticized the current government’s economic management, specifically regarding national debt and infrastructure spending. He also addressed political tensions regarding territorial claims.

In culture, the Gabriel Sundukyan National Academic Theatre is launching its 105th theatrical season with a new production of ‘Romeo and Juliet’ directed by John Blondell. The upcoming season includes collaborations with the State Symphony Orchestra of Armenia and preparations for the Francophonie games.
