Armenian figures Petros Galstanyan and Dr. Aram Hovhannisyan die

Petros Galstanyan, 90, the father of Armenian public figure Bagrat Srabazani, died on 3 August 2026. The family announced his passing and cancelled a planned memorial ceremony at Srabazani’s burial site, pending further funeral arrangements.

Dr. Aram Hovhannisyan, 72, deputy director of Armenia’s Anti‑Doping Agency, also died on 3 August 2026. A distinguished biochemist and professor, he founded Armenia’s first anti‑doping service in 1994, led numerous international anti‑doping initiatives, and authored over 140 scientific works. His death was reported by the Ministry of Health, highlighting his contributions to clean sport in the country.
