Badalyan observed that such a meeting follows the arrest of opposition leaders perceived as pro-Russian, leading to speculation regarding Putin's stance on Pashinyan's recent political actions.

Separately, historian Hayk Demoyan criticized the Armenian government's rhetoric regarding national history. He specifically questioned the expenditure of approximately $500,000 for a piece of wood—a 12th-century church door fragment purchased at a London auction—characterizing it as a public relations move for the Pashinyan administration.
