Armenian politician Sarik Minasyan resigns from Gyumri posts to pursue a parliamentary seat in Yerevan

Sarik Minasyan, director of the Shirak regional unit of Armenia’s electricity network and a leading member of the Kaghpaymanagir party in Gyumri, announced he will relinquish both positions. He intends to take a parliamentary mandate and relocate to Yerevan.

Minasyan was appointed director by former acting head Romanos Petrosyan after Samvel Karapetyan’s removal. He failed to win the Gyumri city council election and did not secure a strong vote share for the party. His resignation is expected to be announced at an extra council session scheduled for 15 July, after which the Gyumri council will suspend meetings until the end of September. A replacement from the team of Martun Grigoryan may be selected thereafter.
