Armenia's security and military history developments

Recent political discourse in Armenia has highlighted tensions regarding the country's relationship with the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO). CSTO Secretary General Taalat Maksimov stated that Armenia has effectively withdrawn from the alliance, noting that while the Armenian side does not obstruct operations, it no longer participates in discussions or decision-making processes.

In historical context, General-Lieutenant Norat Ter-Grigoryants, a former Soviet and Russian military officer, recounted his role in establishing the Armenian armed forces. Following an invitation from former President Levon Ter-Petrosyan to help protect Nagorno-Karabakh and Armenian independence, Ter-Grigoryants transitioned from the Russian military to serve as the Commander of the Armed Forces, helping to build the nation's military infrastructure.
