Armidale teen charged in violent home invasion and online posting

An 18-year-old man has been refused bail following an alleged violent home invasion in Armidale on October 8. During the incident, a group of individuals reportedly entered a residence on Hunt Avenue armed with knives, demanding car keys from the occupants. A woman in her 40s was seriously assaulted with a baseball bat, sustaining head and arm injuries, while a woman in her 70s and a man in his 20s were present but uninjured.

The suspect faces multiple charges, including aggravated armed break and enter, breaching bail, and failing to comply with a digital evidence order. Notably, he is also facing charges under New South Wales’s new ‘post and boast’ laws, as police allege he shared details of the crime online. Police also believe the individual is linked to previous break-ins in Nambucca Heads and West Kempsey.

Following raids on two Armidale homes, the man was formally refused bail and is scheduled to appear in court in December.
