ARMSX3 Android emulator adds online multiplayer support

The Android-based PlayStation 3 emulator, ARMSX3, has released version 0.9.3, introducing significant new features and performance enhancements. The most notable addition is online multiplayer support, which utilizes the open-source RPCN system for matchmaking instead of Sony’s PlayStation Network.

Users can create RPCN accounts directly within the application. However, developers have issued a security warning noting that RPCN passwords are stored in plain text within the rpcn.yml file, advising users not to reuse passwords from other services. The update also includes advanced networking options such as IPv6 support, DNS server redirection, and clan settings.

Beyond connectivity, the update addresses numerous technical issues. Over 500 bugs have been resolved for the ARM64 architecture, specifically fixing crashes and stuttering in titles like ‘Borderlands 2’ and ‘BLEACH: Soul Resurrección’. Performance has been further optimized by offloading shader compilation to specific processor cores to reduce lag.
