Armunia Health Center joins Phase III mRNA flu vaccine trial
The Armunia Health Center in León is participating in a Phase III clinical trial to evaluate the efficacy of a new seasonal influenza vaccine based on mRNA technology. The study is specifically targeting individuals over the age of 65, a demographic at higher risk for severe complications, hospitalization, and mortality related to the virus.
Unlike conventional vaccines that focus on a single protein, this experimental prototype is designed to target two key surface antigens: hemagglutinin and neuraminidase. This dual approach aims to strengthen immune responses, reduce clinical severity, and limit virus transmission. The trial is part of a global scientific network and is registered with the Spanish Agency of Medicines and Medical Devices (AEMPS).
