Arnaldo Pomodoro: Milan celebrates sculptor's centenary

Milan is celebrating the centenary of the birth of sculptor Arnaldo Pomodoro through various exhibitions and initiatives. The artist, who passed away on June 22, 2025, left a significant mark on the city's urban landscape with approximately twenty-five monumental works located in squares, parks, and museums.

His signature style involves polished metallic surfaces—such as spheres, discs, and columns—that fracture to reveal intricate internal gears, serving as a metaphor for the contradictions of the contemporary world.

Key commemorative events include the exhibition ‘Arnaldo Pomodoro. Una vita’ at the Gallerie d’Italia – Intesa Sanpaolo, running until October 18, which features forty-five sculptures and archival documents. Additionally, the Fondazione Arnaldo Pomodoro will inaugurate the ‘Open Studio #5’ exhibition on October 1, showcasing over one hundred works collected by the artist since 1974.
