Arnavutköy grass fire spreads to hobby gardens

A grass fire broke out in the Hacımaşlı neighborhood of Arnavutköy, Istanbul, around midday. Driven by strong winds, the flames spread rapidly across a large area of dry grass.

The fire reached two private properties used as hobby gardens, damaging numerous fruit trees. Firefighting teams struggled with the intervention due to the terrain and shifting wind directions, which caused the flames to reignite periodically.

After intense efforts by firefighting crews, the fire was brought under control and extinguished. Cooling operations were conducted at the site. Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the blaze, and drone footage has been used to assess the extent of the damage to the landscape and gardens.
