Arnhem closes Oranjebrug to through traffic

The municipality of Arnhem is closing the Oranjebrug to through traffic for the remainder of the year. The decision aims to prevent commuters from using the Oranjestraat as a shortcut during peak hours, a practice that has caused congestion and increased fine dust levels in the residential area.

To improve local health and safety, residents, local businesses, and caregivers can apply for free permits to use the bridge. Emergency services will maintain unrestricted access. The municipality expects that diverted traffic will use designated routes like the Amsterdamseweg and Utrechtseweg, with an estimated increase in travel time of only one to two minutes.
