Arnhem man suspected of large-scale sextortion

A 22-year-old man from Arnhem is suspected of large-scale sextortion, allegedly earning tens of thousands of euros by blackmailing vulnerable individuals. According to the Public Prosecution Service, the suspect targeted victims through dating sites and moved conversations to WhatsApp, where he exchanged erotic imagery before threatening to distribute the material to the victims' family, friends, and employers if they did not pay.

The prosecution has linked the suspect to eleven victims and noted three attempted cases. Evidence in the case includes chat logs, telephone records, and bank data. The Public Prosecution Service is seeking a four-year prison sentence, of which one year is suspended, and is requesting the recovery of over 50,000 euros in illicitly obtained funds.
